Delete your Gerund account
You can ask us to delete your account and everything we hold about you. One person reads these requests and replies within seven days.
How to ask
- Adults (parents, teachers, Everyday English and Gerund for Work learners): email hello@gerund.in from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”.
- Students: a parent, or your school, asks for you. The parent emails hello@gerund.in with the child’s name, class and registration number.
- Schools: the school’s administrator can remove students and teachers, or email us to close the school’s account.
We may ask one question to confirm the request really comes from the account holder, so that nobody can delete someone else’s account.
What is deleted
Within 30 days of confirming: the account itself, the name, class and contact details on it, practice history, writing, notebook entries, test results and any recordings. The account can no longer sign in.
What may be kept, and for how long
- Payment records, only as long as Indian tax law requires.
- Traffic statistics, which delete themselves after 90 days anyway.
- Copies inside older backups, which are deleted within 90 days.
Deleting only part of it
You can also ask us to delete just some data — for example your writing, or a Gerund for Work notebook — and keep the account. Gerund for Work learners can delete their notebook entries themselves, inside the app, at any time.
